I've got a trick to prove when I wrote something. I simple mail it to myself, so when it comes back it bears a postmark (Documentation from a government agency) with the date. Then save the envelope...

That's a good idea, actually. But postmarking something isn't the same as establishing copyright ownership. Like I said in the above post, the moment you write something, it is copyright protected....
